What do you think the online occult and witchcraft community needs most?
In my view, the most significant issue plaguing the online occult community is the rampant spread of misinformation across various social platforms, including TikTok and Reddit. This problem is exacerbated by a lack of effective checks and balances to verify the authenticity and accuracy of the information being shared. The ease with which anyone can post content means that unverified, misleading, or outright false information can quickly gain traction, leading newcomers astray and muddling the practice for those genuinely seeking knowledge.
This challenge is compounded by the broader issue of quality discourse spaces. Many platforms either shadow-ban or delete content related to the occult under vague policies, making it difficult to have open, meaningful discussions. This censorship not only stifles community growth but also pushes practitioners into smaller, less regulated corners of the internet where misinformation can spread even more easily.
Additionally, the infiltration of new-age concepts, while enriching in some aspects, often dilutes and degrades time-honored traditions of the occult. The blending of practices can lead to confusion among practitioners, especially those new to the path, about what constitutes authentic practice.
Overall, the combination of unchecked misinformation, platform restrictions on discourse, and the dilution of traditional practices are creating a significant ruckus within the online occult community. Addressing these issues requires a concerted effort from both practitioners and platform moderators to foster environments that prioritize authenticity, open dialogue, and respect for tradition AND innovation.
